Welcome to TBHC Nursing!
Letter from the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE)
Composed of experts in Administration & Strategy, Critical Care, Education, Emergency Medicine, Maternal-Child Health, Medical-Surgical Services, Perioperative Services, and Quality Assurance, our nurses are selected and trained to provide the highest level of compassionate care to our patients. Year after year, TBHC nurses are recognized with awards and accolades for patient outcomes and patient satisfaction. The greatest reward, however, is the relationships we form with our patients while they are in our care.
As nurses, we aim to make a difference. Our charge is not only to provide medical care, but to also give comfort, peace of mind and understanding. The spirit of nursing is placing the patient at the core of all of our actions, being their constant advocate and provider. We aim to be fully present, with an understanding of the impact our presence can bring to the patient’s experience and their clinical outcome.
At TBHC, we are building our nursing force from that model and continually exploring ways to improve care and our own professional development. From the beginning of their tenure at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, our nurses have every opportunity to learn and grow, including participating in TBHC’s Nurse Residency Program, which offers our new nurses intensive, real-time training in all of our disciplines.
Through our Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives, we seek to be highly accountable for the care we render and we’re continuously developing our best practices. We focus on preventive measures to reduce infections and falls, as we update treatment plans and professional skills on an ongoing basis.
Our Brooklyn community is always growing and TBHC is growing right along with it. As our facilities, technology, professional staff and outreach continue to evolve, the TBHC nursing team will be there to provide the best in care and compassion to our patients and the communities we serve.
Sincerely,
Judy McLaughlin, DNP, MS, RN
Senior Vice President & Chief Nurse Executive
