Welcome to one of the finest surgical departments in the New York area, TBHC's Department of Surgery. Our expert team of surgeons, physician assistants, nurses and support staff performs more than 10,000 procedures annually and has extensive experience conducting some of the most advanced surgical interventions in the country.

Whether it's general surgery or in one of our many surgical subspecialties (such as our excellent bariatric surgery, breast surgery, spine surgery and orthopedic surgery, among many others) your TBHC surgeon can provide you a full range of up-to-date, cutting-edge surgical techniques, from minimally invasive techniques, to robotic surgery, to traditional open surgical procedures. In minimally invasive procedures, of which robotic surgery is an example, the surgeon makes one or more small incisions, which allow very thin tubes to be inserted. The tubes let the doctor slip in tiny video cameras and surgical tools to perform the procedure, using advanced imaging to "see" the surgical site. With minimally invasive surgery, you will lose less blood, have less postoperative pain, fewer and smaller scars, and much faster recovery time than you would after open surgery. You will require only a short hospital stay in most cases.

Our department is also home to a fully accredited surgical residency and our surgeons keep abreast of the latest thinking and techniques through their roles as teachers.
