The Brooklyn Hospital Center Says “THANK YOU!” for Donations, for Clapping, for Staying Home

Within days of the start of the coronavirus crisis, The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) became the recipient of an outpouring of love and generosity: Thousands of masks and gloves. Hundreds of meals for our hard-working staff. The shoes, the socks, the lotions, the hand sanitizers. The dance video from a New York City 5th grader who wrote to OB/GYN Chair, Dr. Erroll Byer, “You are incredible, courageous and a force of good in this world.” The cards from around the world. The 7 pm claps that brought out NYPD, FNDY, EMS and scores of individual Brooklyn neighbors.

“We have never felt more loved and supported than we have through this difficult time,” says Gary G. Terrinoni, TBHC’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “TBHC is always here for our neighbors — our mission says that we are dedicated to Keeping Brooklyn Healthy, after all — but, boy, were our neighbors here for us. We can never thank them enough.”

As society looks toward a “new normal” that includes coronavirus remaining in the community until a vaccine is created, TBHC is considering ways to continue to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care. The hospital is currently in the midst of creating a model where non-COVID patients can be treated separately from COVID patients whether it be in the emergency room or admitted to a unit.

TBHC also relocated its specialty practices to a brand-new building on 86 St. Felix Street in Fort Greene. The building features modern décor, state-of-the-art exam rooms and beautiful views.

The Physicians Pavilion, as well as the entire hospital, is following safety guidelines, including social distancing, temperature checks, and masks for all patients and staff.

“Doctors’ offices are essential businesses and it’s important you don’t put off your health needs any longer,” says Mr. Terrinoni. Call 1-833-THBC-NOW (833-824-2667) to make an appointment for any of your primary and specialty care needs.

“We look forward to seeing you soon,” says Mr. Terrinoni.
